BOSTON (AdAge.com) -- Coca-Cola Co. tonight breaks advertising for Vanilla Coke, the latest line extension for the world's largest soft drink.

Two spots, with 51-year-old tough-guy actor Chazz Palminteri, break on youth-oriented programs on News Corp.'s Fox and AOL Time Warner's the WB, including Boston Public, 7th Heaven and American Idol, a new series on Fox that Coca-Cola sponsors.

to appeal to teens, with humorous ads featuring young men whose curiosity gets the better of them. In one, a young man pokes his head through a hole in a wall and finds himself in a headlock. In another, another young man sees large red arrow pointing to a peephole. When he peers through, a door opens and he is yanked inside. Each time, the actors are surprised to find Palminteri and a sidekick on the other side.

The ads, designed to raise consumers' interest in the cream-soda-tasting brand, will run for six weeks and include radio, outdoor and Internet.

Vanilla Coke, which launched in May, is one of the soft-drink giant's biggest summer endeavors. Interpublic Group of Cos.' Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., handled.
