Venture to help local media tap Web ads

Tribune Media Services and Multi-Ad Services formed a venture to enable local newspapers and broadcasters to tap advertisers for their World Wide Web sites. The venture will work with both media companies and marketers/retailers to structure co-op advertising programs. Tribune Co., TMS' parent, plans to launch a full-fledged ad-supported Web site by early next year. Separately, the Chicago Tribune named Owen Youngman to the new post of director of interactive media, from managing editor/features. Mr. Youngman will be responsible for the Tribune's interactive products, including Chicago Online on America Online and its Web ventures.
