Ventures, Mayfield invest $7.5 million into Internet photo start-up

Mayfield Fund, a private venture capital partnership, and @Ventures, the venture capital arm of CMGI, completed the initial $7.5 million round of venture capital funding for a photography Internet start-up, Snapfish.com. In related news, Compaq Computer Corp., CMGI and the Shanghai Information Investment, the Internet investment and management arm of the Shanghai government, formed an alliance to pursue cooperative Internet opportunities in China. The alliance will evolve into a Shanghai-based joint venture to build and operate Internet and e-commerce services to assist government and private enterprises.
