NEW YORK-Jerry Vernon, an account exec at CBS Radio Networks, celebrates his 80th birthday Aug. 30, making him the oldest active employee at CBS.

Mr. Vernon, who began his broadcasting career in 1937 as an NBC page, has been selling for CBS Radio since 1960.

He was also one of the earliest network TV sales executives, serving from 1948 to '55 in sales management jobs at the ABC Television Network.

In '55, he went to J. Walter Thompson Co. as associate media director. He rejoined NBC in '57 in network TV sales before joining CBS in 1960.
