Viacom and MCA have been granted a recess in their breach-of-contract trial until Monday, as negotiations for an out-of-court settlement continue. The companies declined to comment. But sources say the settlement is expected to involve a swap of their jointly owned cable program services that will leave MCA the sole owner of the Sci-Fi Channel and Viacom the sole owner of the USA Network. The settlement could be valued at close to $2 billion.
