Three years after urban music magazine Vibe
was sold by Time Inc., it's back on the block. Robert Miller and Quincy Jones, backed by investment company Freeman Spogli & Co., bought Vibe
in July 1996 and a year later added alternative rock magazine Spin
to the company. Last year, Vibe/Spin Ventures, New York, launched another title, Blaze
, focused on hip-hop. Salomon Smith Barney has been retained to initiate a sale of the three music titles. Industry experts estimate the titles could fetch upwards of $200 million.
