Video research to launch people meters in Taiwan

Japanese media and marketing research company Video Research has expanded its TV audience ratings services into Taiwan through a joint venture with the Broadcasting Development Fund, a Taiwanese governmental organization, and Taiwan's major radio, terrestrial TV and cable stations.

The new company, Broadcasters Market Research Co., will provide Taiwan's largest nationwide TV audience people meter research. The first data is scheduled for release in January 2002.

"This project was initiated by the Broadcasting Development Fund. There is a true need for dependable TV audience ratings in Taiwan," says Nagasaburo Miyamoto, Video Research's director-strategic planning. "We will expand our services to syndicated and custom marketing research to better serve our clients," he adds.
