Princeton Video Image, the Lawrenceville, N.J., company that inserts ads and logos into the content of TV broadcasts such as baseball games and CBS' "Early Show,'' announced partnerships May 24 with RealNetworks and Engage to begin including such "virtual'' ad placement in streamed video on the Internet. PVI and RealNetworks have created iPoint, a new product to insert virtual ads in live and pre-recorded video. The product will be available to RealNetworks' RealPlayer users by yearend. Engage, a CMGI company, will test and develop the in-content ads and find advertisers and content with which to use the iPoint product.
