VTech, Wheeling, Ill., this year will put the bulk of its marketing dollars behind Phusion, a hand-held personal organizer for tweens with a built-in digital camera; the Non-Stop Girl notebook-size activity laptop; and Double Team, a hand-held learning and gaming unit, the company reported today at the American International Toy Fair in New York. VTech will extend beyond its traditional base of mom-oriented ads with a kid- and product-driven drive on cable TV and youth-oriented Web sites, plus gaming, comic and pre-teen lifestyle publications. Lou Beres & Associates, Chicago, handles. Also, VTech holds the electronic learning toy license for Curious George and is revving up George-theme products for 2001 in conjunction with an anticipated Universal movie.
