Most Popular, the online retailing arm of the discount merchandising chain, made its debut in Media Metrix's U.S. Top 50 Web and Digital Media properties for December 2000. entered the Top 50 at No. 41 with 7 million unique visitors.'s debut in the Top 50 coincides with its increase in online advertising, from 37 million impressions in November 2000 to 178 million in December, mostly on the Yahoo! and Excite@Home networks, according to AdRelevance, a Jupiter Media Metrix company. Other retail sites with significant unique-visitor increases include E-greetings Network, up 35 percent; eToys, up 16 percent, and Barnes & Noble, up 12 percent. The AOL proprietary shopping channel increased in traffic, from 10.9 million unique visitors in November 2000 to 11.7 million in December, an 8 percent increase. The Weather Channel increased 37 percent, from 9.1 million unique visitors in November 2000 to 12.5 million in December, amidst a severe storm season that left travelers stranded nationwide. The Weather Channel had the second highest percent-increase among the Top 50 properties.
