WavePhore creates consumer group

Published on .

WavePhore, a Phoenix, Ariz., developer of wireless data distribution, has created a new consumer division to focus on "push" technologies on the Internet that automatically deliver personalized information like news or sports scores. Sandy Goldman, formerly with online grocery company Shoppers Express and Turner Broadcasting, has been named VP of the new group. WavePhore plans to broadcast filtered data through wireless technology, eliminating the need for an Internet connection or a modem. In addition to working with various "push" technology companies like Intel with its Intercast medium, WavePhore is also focusing on fomring alliances with various online content providers and major equipment manufacturers.
