Web ad spending tops $2 bil

Internet ad spending grew only 8.8% between the first and second quarters of 2000, according to the Internet Ad Revenue Report from the Internet Advertising Bureau, New York. The second quarter 2000 total was $2.1 billion, up a much more robust 75% from second quarter 1999. The report, prepared by Pricewater-houseCoopers, showed that total Internet spending hit $4.1 billion for the first half of 2000, compared with the 1999 year total of $4.6 billion. The IAB said it expects Internet spending to reach $8 billion for 2000.
