Web retailers neglect Web technologies, Jupiter says

Not even one in five online retailers deploys well accepted and widely supported Web technologies such as Java, Flash or chat functions to enhance online shopping experiences and close sales, according to a new report from Jupiter Communications. The consultancy said it believes that oversight contributes to shoppers' abandonment of their online transactions. Jupiter suggested online retailers optimize their interactive real estate to match the technical capabilities of most online consumers. Jupiter also suggested merchants take advantage of rich-media enhancements to satisfy the needs and address the problems of more experienced online shoppers.
