More than 60% of the users of the World Wide Web work in professional, technical and managerial functions, according to survey results released Tuesday by CommerceNet
and Nielsen Media Research
. Fewer than 10% represent typical "blue-collar" job descriptions. The results also show that users of the Web generally aren't people who have the most time on their hands. Professional workers account for 37% of Web users; technical, 12%; and managerial, 14%. Retirees account for only 2% of Web users; and homemakers, 1%.
