Webvan Group, Foster City, Calif., picked Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, as its agency of record. Other contenders for Webvan's business included Saatchi & Saatchi and Y&R Advertising, also in San Francisco. Spending could reach more than $50 million. The Web grocery store parted with Gardner, Geary, Coll & Young earlier this summer. Lot 21 will remain Webvan's interactive shop.
