Wendy's International founder and spokesman Dave Thomas has changed his membership with the Screen Actors Guild in order to shoot new advertising. "Dave has modified his membership in the Screen Actors Guild to financial core status,'' said a Wendy's spokesman, deflecting reports that Mr. Thomas had resigned from the union. "He is no longer a voting member, but he continues to pay dues. It was a difficult decision, but he reached a point where he felt it was in the best interest of the company to move forward.'' The amiable fast-food CEO was in the Las Vegas area earlier this week to shoot Wendy's first new TV spots with non-union personnel since the commercial actors strike began almost six months ago. Mr. Thomas earlier said he would support the union and not shoot commercials. The weekend before to the shoot, Mr. Thomas was lauded at the Association of National Advertisers meeting by Parade magazine for being an "Advertising All-American.''
