Whittman-USWeb renamed MarchFirst

Published on .

MarchFirst is the new name of Whittman-Hart & USWeb/CKS, Chicago. The Internet professional services company was formed by Whittman's March 1 purchase of USWeb. The combined companies reported a 1999 net loss of $241.3 million on revenue of $1.1 billion. President-CEO Robert Bernard said MarchFirst gets about 15% to 25% of its business from branding work; the rest comes from technology work and strategic consulting. Investors so far have been skeptical; since Whittman announced the deal, its stock has fallen from $79.25 a share in December to about $45 as of March 23.
