(May 18, 2001) -- The Coca-Cola Co. has awarded its PowerAde sports beverage account to Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore.

The independent shop bested incumbent Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York, Berlin Cameron & Partners and Cliff Freeman & Partners.

According to Taylor Nelson Sofres' CMR, PowerAde spent $32 million in measured media last year. Coca-Cola declined to comment. -- Hillary Chura and Alice Z. Cuneo
