Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore., was the big winner at the One Club's 21st annual One Show, while an Australian public service announcement took the Best of Show award.

Wieden picked up 10 awards, including three Gold Pencils for its TV campaign for ESPN's "SportsCenter" and another two for its ESPN hockey commercials. Wie-den's other five pencils were for its Nike work, including two Silver Pencils for spots featuring golfer Tiger Woods.

Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston, won a Gold Pencil for its TV campaign for John Hancock Financial Corp.'s retirement services. That campaign also snared a Grand Clio earlier this month.

TBWA Chiat/Day, Venice, Calif., received a Gold Pencil in the cate-gory for spots longer than 30 seconds with its "Toys" commercial for Nissan Motor Corp. USA.


Best of Show was the Australian Transport Accident Commission work by Grey Advertising, Melbourne, which also won a Gold Pencil for best public service campaign and gold and silver for individual spots in the PSA category.

One of the spots, "Lennon's Christmas," features a child's voice singing John Lennon's "Merry Christmas (War Is Over)" over emergency-room scenes in the aftermath of an accident.

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, had the evening's second-largest haul. Its cache of eight awards included two Gold Pencils in the print category for its campaign for Polaroid Corp. and a Silver Pencil for the "Dog & Cat" TV commercial for Polaroid.

The Polaroid work won for best color consumer magazine cam-paign and one ad, "Look, Lady," won for best spread or page ad.

BBDO West, Los Angeles, won both radio pencils awarded, for its spots for Ortho insecticides, including a gold for "Sole Contribution" for Antstop Orthene Fire Ant Killer, which also took gold at the Clios a week earlier. The "Instant
