Winfrey magazine titled 'O'

Published on .

The magazine set to debut April 17 and formerly known only as the joint venture between New York-based Hearst Magazines and Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Entertainment Group has finally selected a name: O, The Oprah Magazine. "O'' is "simple and direct, and it is what a lot of my friends call me,'' Ms. Winfrey said in a statement. The name was chosen after a series of focus groups. O plans two double issues, May/June and July/August, before turning to a monthly publishing schedule with the September issue. The first issue plans to distribute 850,000 copies.
