Winning creative can't overshadow layoffs and losses

Creatively, it was another strong year for the independent agency. Cliff Freeman won the Grand Prix award at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes for a Fox Sports campaign. It also won Best of Show at the One Show for its Fox Sports NBA campaign.

But the New York agency lost the $80 million Hardee's Food Systems account and suffered layoffs, cutting about 10% of its work force.

Still, Cliff Freeman does have experience in fast-food and could conceivably take advantage of Pizza Hut's agency review to do special projects.


After Berlin, Cameron & Partners agreed to be acquired by WPP Group, Cliff Freeman's shop is looking like a possible takeover target.
