Wireless communications combine

Seven companies licensed to develop Personal Communications Services networks in the U.S. have banded together to develop high-quality digital wireless communications services in North America. The companies are Pacific Bell Mobile Services, Bell South Personal Communications, American Portable Telecom, American Personal Communications, Intercel, Omnipoint and Western Wireless Co. The group holds licenses to cover 125 million people in the U.S., including 12 of the top 25 cities, and will use the Global System for Mobile Communication, a technical platform adopted by 150 providers in nearly 80 nations.
