[london] Avis Rent A Car System and British Airways are jointly running a $3.2 million global marketing campaign to publicize their new partnership. Last December, British Airways appointed Avis as its preferred car rental partner to service its 38 million business and leisure passengers. The campaign will run throughout Europe and in key global markets. Grey Advertising is handling the campaign. Ads use the first letters of the companies to promote how easy it is to travel from "A to B."

Nick expands staff in Argentina

[miami] Nickelodeon is expanding its regional office in Buenos Aires with two new recruits. Ariana Fernandez becomes marketing manager from Cablevision-TC1 in Buenos Aires, where she was promotions and advertising manager and responsible for the development of El Club Infantil, the cable operator's kids club. Paula Guerra becomes manager of advertising sales for the channel in Argentina, from sales manager at Intermedios, a media agency representing satellite signals.

Novartis notes first-year success

Frito-Lay launches Munchos in Asia

[bangkok] PepsiCo has launched what it calls its first global brand -- Frito-Lay Munchos -- into the prawn cracker market in Thailand, predicted to expand 20% to $19 million this year. The product will be rolled next into Shanghai and other Asian markets. Frito-Lay will spend an estimated $750,000 to promote Munchos over the next four months. Dentsu, Young & Rubicam handles.

BBDO consolidates offices

[hong kong] BBDO Worldwide will consolidate BBDO Hong Kong and its Chinese joint venture, BBDO/CNUAC Advertising, under the leadership of Tom Kao, president of BBDO China and Hong Kong. Kenny Ho, previously deputy managing director of BBDO Malaysia, has been promoted to managing director, BBDO Beijing. Jacky Yu, currently general manager of BBDO Shanghai, will become the BBDO/CNUAC network director. Mr. Yu will be replaced in two months by Benny Hui, who was managing director of northern China for D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.
