WPP CREATES GROUP TO HANDLE SYMANTEC ACCOUNT

(Aug. 20, 2001) -- WPP Group has created a separate group within its J. Walter Thompson, Los Angeles, office to handle its estimated $30 million Symantec account, previously at sibling shop Ogilvy & Mather, Culver City, Calif.

Jerry McGee, formerlyan Ogilvy executive vice president and managing director, will head a group of 10 to 15 within the JWT Los Angeles office; both he and Peter Stranger, JWT West CEO, report directly to Bob Jeffrey, president of JWT North America.
