WSJ adds Calif. edition

The Wall Street Journal said it will launch a regional edition called the California Journal in October. Each Wednesday, five additional pages on regional business, financial and economic issues will appear in "The Marketplace" in the 230,000 copies of the Journal that are circulated in the state. Catherine Leary, regional sales manager, will handle ad sales for the edition. The 1997 rate card will charge $32,518 for a one-time page ad in the California edition. Rick Wartzman, currently bureau chief in Houston, will be editor of the California Journal..
