(June 26, 2001) -- XM Satellite Radio reached an agreement with Viacom-owned MTV Networks to broadcast two 24-hour music channels under the MTV and VH1 brands.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The partnership allows the TV networks to air their music, news and entertainment programming through XM, which is scheduled to broadcast digital-quality channels from orbiting satellites to XM subscribers later this summer or fall. The deal also gives XM promotional opportunities on MTV and VH1. -- Cara Beardi
