Y&R names Detroit chief

Young & Rubicam, Detroit, named John Hirschboeck president, filling the post vacated by Mike Howe, who left in January. Mr. Hirschboeck will be responsible for Ford's Lincoln-Mercury account and will oversee new business efforts. He spent over 20 years at several offices of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, mostly on Toyota, and was most recently VP-integrated marketing for Pleasant Co., the Madison, Wis., direct marketer for American Girl's publications and dolls.
