Y&R outlines succession plan

Young & Rubicam, New York, outlined its succession plan late Monday, naming Ed Vick, 54, chief creative officer and Tom Bell, 49, president-chief operating officer of the holding company, effective immediately. Mr. Vick was chief operating officer, and Mr. Bell was chairman-CEO of Y&R Advertising. On Jan. 1, 2000, Mr. Vick will become chairman and Mr. Bell will become CEO of Y&R Inc. Current Chairman-CEO Peter Georgescu, 60, will then become chairman emeritus. Mike Dolan continues as vice chairman and chief financial officer through the transition. Y&R said it will announce a replacement for Mr. Bell soon.
