Yahoo! gets its own drink Labor Day weekend, when the portal teams with Southland Corp.'s 7-Eleven on a promotion for its Slurpee drinks. The 7-Eleven convenience stores will sell a Yahoo! Slurpee, in a Minute Maid grape flavor, from Labor Day weekend through the end of September. The Yahoo! logo will also appear on 22-ounce Slurpee cups, which will promote Yahoo! Greetings, a site where people can send e-mail postcards with Slurpee coupons. The promotion also includes a contest for a trip anywhere in the U.S. or Canada to share a Slurpee with a friend, as well as banner advertising across Yahoo!. Financial details were not disclosed.
"Yahoo! can help marketers get more bang for the buck,'' said Murray Gaylord, director, Yahoo! Fusion Marketing, the division that coordinated the promotion. "Virtually all of our efforts are going into this area.''
