Yahoo! launches April 26 Yahoo! Birthday Club, a direct marketing program in which users receive a personalized greeting and discount offers in an e-mail on their birthday. The offers can be redeemed online. The opt-in direct marketing program is one of the first promotions to come from Yahoo! Direct, a department Yahoo! founded after purchasing Web direct marketer Yoyodyne last year. Advertisers who've tested the service include Eddie Bauer Inc., travel retailer Lowestfare.com and clothing retailer Bluefly.
