Yahoo! to buy eGroups for $432 mil

Published on .

Yahoo! has agreed to buy eGroups in an all-stock deal valued at $432 million. EGroups is an e-mail communications service for online communities. Yahoo! said it would integrate eGroups' services, which help people manage e-mail groups, across its properties, such as Yahoo! Clubs, Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger. Yahoo! also said it planned to use eGroups with Corporate Yahoo! a customized portal it launched earlier this week, as well as build it into its wireless e-mail alerts. EGroups said it has 17 million members, and more than 800,000 active e-mail groups. Separately, Yahoo! inked a deal with online financial news site Bloomberg.com to run its live Bloomberg Television streams to Yahoo!'s international sites, including Yahoo!'s sites in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. The streaming TV feeds will be added to more international sites soon.
