Yahoo signs 10 new advertisers

Yahoo Corp., the Mountain View, Calif., Web guide and search service, signed on advertisers including American Express Co., Anheuser-Busch Cos., AT&T, Bank of America, Bell Atlantic, American Honda Motor Co., Individual Inc., NYNEX and Samsung.

"We're excited to gain advertisers [from] beyond the computer arena," said Jeff Mallett, Yahoo senior VP-business operations. "The trend you see now is towards more consumer-based companies" advertising in interactive media.

Advertising on the service cost 2 cents per impression. Advertisers may also sponsor search words for $1,000 per word per month. Yahoo President-CEO Tim Koogle said that as of Nov. 1, 25 advertisers will use this option.
