Yahoo! takes on Chicago

Published on .

Yahoo! on Monday launched its regional service, Yahoo! Chicago, the latest in a series of city-themed information and entertainment directories. The site features quick access to more than 4,500 sites related to the Chicago metropolitan area and information in 14 categories: Business and Stocks, Classifieds, Community, Education, Employment, Entertainment and Arts, Maps and Views, News, People, Real Estate, Sports and Recreation, Transportation, Travel and Chicagoland.

Yahoo! already operates regional sites in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, combining local and national content with bulletin boards and classified ads. The company enters the Chicago market as the Chicago Tribune and America Online launch Digital City Chicago and Digital City Evanston, their own regional content available on America Online.
