The New York Times Electronic Media Co. debuted a new Web site for students, teachers and parents -- New York Times Learning Network
. The new site features a daily lesson plan based on an article from The New York Times created in a partnership with Bank Street College of Education in New York. The Learning Network also has deals with Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Microsoft Encarta Concise Encyclopedia to provide hyperlinks on certain words within stories to definitions or maps. The site does not require registration and advertising will be confined to teacher and parent areas only. Apple is the first advertiser on the site.
