Zap intends to gobble up more sites

Zap Corp., the Internet subsidiary of Houston-based Zapata Corp., announced plans to acquire or invest in 21 Internet sites and e-commerce businesses.

Zap said it would integrate the new sites with its recent Internet purchases, online magazines Word and Charged, into a portal called Zap.com.

It's entering agreements with the following sites: software site Freeware32; Clip Art Connection; Starting Point; Chat Planet; Daily Stocks; Stocksheet; Virtual Technology; Travel Page; Galt Shareware Zone; LatinoLink; Web magazine Retro; Web business directory ComFind; Planet, a collection of five sites based in Spain; trivia site Rock Mall; book site Bibliofind; and music site Mass Music.
