The Bombay-based broadcaster is asking via a page ad in The Economic Times for applications for such positions as CEO-designate and executive presidents for finance, marketing, direct-to-home, direct-to-operator/cable, information technology, information technology services, corporate, and commercial divisions.
"Zee invites you to invent the future," the headline reads. The tagline follows: "Because the future belongs to those who invent it."
Zee's portfolio currently comprises the flagship Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Zee India TV and national cable operator SitiCable, which is again half- owned by News Corp. The network is currently run by the Indian promoters, who now aim to expand from traditional TV to DTH broadcasts, telecoms and the Internet.
The ad says the move is part of a strategy to "consolidate Zee into a New Age global brand that provides entertainment, information and educational services."
The broadcaster is totally upfront about whom it thinks should apply: "This team will be chosen from among the top talent in their respective fields and is likely to be in their 30s, preferable early 30s. Given the magnitude of responsibility and versatility of the assignment, it is only mature but youthful professionals who will measure up."
