Zenith cuts work force

Published on .

Zenith Electronics Corp., Glenview, Ill., today said it would cut its U.S. workforce by more than 25%, to about 2,000 employees. Zenith reported net losses of $109 million for the first nine months of 1996, and new President-CEO Peter S. Willmott called the cutbacks "a necessary step in Zenith's turnaround process." Zenith also plans to mount its first national ad campaign in five years in 1997, through Bagby & Co., Chicago.
