In a surprise ending that sent the media press scrambling yesterday, investment banker Bruce Wasserstein emerged as the winning bidder for Primedia's New York magazine. Wasserstein, who had been counted out by the press after missing a Dec. 11 bid deadline, stealthily beat out a consortium that included Mort Zuckerman, Harvey Weinstein and outspoken adman Donny Deutsch.
