Slipknot v. Coq Roq

Published on .

After protests over sexual innuendo, it seems as though the controversy surrounding Coq Roq shall continue. Crispin Porter + Bogusky has been served with cease and desist papers from metal band Slipknot, in which the band alleges that the group used in the campaign copied their frightening masks. According to Burger King's well-informed lawyers, many bands "wear masks and/or make-up to accomplish a mask-like effect, including but not limited to the bands KISS, Gwar, Insane Clown Posse, Mushroomhead, Mudvayne, Marilyn Manson, Los Straitjackets, and the Spits."
