The former management team of the New York office of relationship marketing division BBDO Proximity, which was shuttered earlier this year, has opened a new agency called SBRF Partners. Based in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, the shop is a partnership consisting of former Proximity managing director Paul Sewards, former business development director Gary Blau, former account director Casey Ritts and former CD Scott Feraco. ... Paul Lavoie, president and co-founder of Canadian agency Taxi, has been named chairman of the advertising jury for the 2005 Art Directors Club awards. This year's competition will also include two new categories: Playground, a category-first introduced by Lavoie at the 2002 London International Advertising Awards-for work that was commissioned but did not run; and Hybrid, a category for campaigns that cross traditional boundaries. The deadline for entries is Jan. 21. ... Santa Monica's Nonfiction Spots has expanded its editorial capabilities by signing editor and director Paul Crowder. Among other projects, Crowder cut the features Dogtown and Z Boys and Riding Giants, both of which were directed by Nonfiction roster mate Stacy Peralta. ... Director Bryan Barber has wrapped production on his feature debut-My Life in Idlewild, starring Outkast-and has returned to directing spots via Boondoggle and music videos via FM Rocks.
