John Osborn Replaces Bill Katz at Flagship Office

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- BBDO Worldwide today named a new president-CEO for its flagship New York office.

from within its ranks, elevating John Osborn, executive vice president and director of integrated marketing for BBDO North America, to replace Bill Katz, who exited the agency last month.

No replacement
A spokesman for the agency said Mr. Osborn's position will not be filled for the time being.

Mr. Osborn, 37, has strong relationships with longtime BBDO client's such as FedEx, General Electric Cos., Cingular and Mars' Masterfoods. He joined BBDO, New York, in 1991 as an account executive on Pepsi Cola's Diet Pepsi brand.

Lost accounts
Last month, the New York office laid off 20 employees, or 3% of its 600-person staff. In the past few months, BBDO has lost about $200 million in billings from Yum Brands' KFC, $25 million from Frito Lay's Tostitos, and $25 million from Unilever's Caress.

A spokesman said the office has recently won work for Braun, Epipen and Mars' Masterfoods candy that represents $60 million to $70 million in billings.
