Burnett Creative Katsarelas Dies at 49

Exec VP of Detroit Office Created Campaigns for Pontiac, Cadillac, A.C. Delco

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- George Katsarelas, exec VP-executive creative director at Leo Burnett's Detroit office, died of complications from a heart attack. He was 49.

Since joining the office in 1994, Mr. Katsarelas crafted campaigns for brands such as Pontiac, Cadillac, A.C. Delco and G.M. Service Parts. He also served as president of the Detroit Creative Director's Council. Earlier in his career, he worked at Doner and Campbell-Ewald.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Katsarelas family during this extraordinarily difficult time," Leo Burnett Worldwide Chairman-CEO Tom Bernardin said in a statement. "George was extremely talented and a wonderful family man and friend."

Mr. Katsarelas is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Max and Nick, and daughter, Elizabeth.

A funeral was held Monday at Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Westland, Mich.
