Mr. Berra comes to Carnival after three years at Rodale, publisher of Men's Health, Women's Health and Prevention, where he oversaw development and marketing of the company's online businesses. Prior to Rodale, Mr. Berra spent time at Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in a variety of marketing posts.

Online responsibilities
In this newly created role at Miami-based Carnival, Mr. Berra will lead all of the cruise operator's advertising programs, marketing communications and public relations. He will also be charged with overseeing all digital efforts for the brand, including audience and site development for Carnival.com.

"Jim brings wide-ranging experience in all facets of marketing and advertising," Ruben Rodriguez, Carnival's exec VP-marketing and guest experience, said in a statement. "His expertise in loyalty programs, direct marketing and digital marketing in particular will be a tremendous asset to our company as we continue to build the Carnival brand."

Carnival in May named Havas' Arnold Worldwide and MPG as its creative and media agencies of record, respectively.
