division, the photographic unit that accounts for half of the company's sales.

Replaces Steven Jones
Mr. Palumbo will oversee the company's marketing and brand building. Coca-Cola's last chief marketing officer, Steven Jones, resigned in March. Mr. Palumbo reports to Steven J. Heyer, the company's president-chief operating officer.

From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Palumbo had been chief marketing officer for the consumer imaging division of Eastman Kodak. Prior to joining Eastman Kodak, Mr. Palumbo held senior marketing positions for Procter & Gamble Co.

Integrated marketing
"Dan brings to Coca-Cola enormous experience in managing some of the world's largest and most familiar brands," Mr. Heyer said. "His expertise will enable us to move forward with greater intensity and focus to drive profitable growth through innovative and integrated marketing."
