NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- A former Havas executive is joining the holding company in a newly created international business-development role after a nine-year interlude at Cordiant Communications Group.

A Havas spokesman confirmed that Jean de Yturbe has started the Paris-based job of vice president of business development. He said Mr. de Yturbe will have a coordination role and help pull in business for different Havas-owned companies, mainly in Europe.

Mr. de Yturbe couldn't be reached for comment; an official announcement is expected Monday.

Mr. de Yturbe, 56, was formerly head of Eurocom, a predecessor to Havas' global network Euro RSCG Worldwide. He left the company shortly after Eurocom's merger with RSCG Worldwide. In 1994 he joined the now defunct Cordiant Communications Group as head of the Bates Worldwide network in Europe. He later became deputy chief of Cordiant, but left the company in March of this year, before it was acquired WPP Group in July.
