Dave Hoffmann, currently senior VP for restaurant support in McDonald's Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) region, has been promoted to president of APMEA, effective July 1. A 16-year McDonald's veteran, Mr. Hoffmann succeeds Tim Fenton, who was recently promoted to McDonald's chief operating officer. Mr. Hoffmann will be based in Singapore and be responsible for operations of 5,500 McDonald's restaurants. Previously, Mr. Hoffmann spent four years partnering with the McDonald's Japan executive team, and has also served as senior director for both North America and global strategy and execution. Mr. Hoffmann worked as a McDonald's crew member for two years during high school and began his professional career there as a restaurant manager in the U.S.
Joe Burke has been named senior VP-executive creative director of MARC USA's Chicago office. Most recently a freelancer since leaving DDB, Chicago, in 2011, Mr. Burke also spent time at the Chicago offices of Tatham, Laird and Kudner (now Tatham Euro RSCG); Bozell and JWT. As one of the founding partners of Element 79, he and his partner created memorable work for Gatorade including "Be Like Mike II", "Is it In You?" and "Michael Jordan vs. Mia Hamm." In addition to Gatorade, Mr. Burke has won creative awards for his work on brands including Coors Light, Capitol One Bank, Frito Lay, Quaker Oats, American Family Insurance, Motorola, Evinrude and "Pork: The Other White Meat."
Everyday Health has expanded its sales organization with the promotions of two executives and three new VP hires. Leading the team are Scott Wolf, who has been promoted to chief sales officer, and Laura Klein, who steps up as exec VP-sales. Mr. Wolf joined in 2005 to help launch the online health site, and was most recently exec VP-sales. He has also led sales at Muzak, Vivendi Universal Music's internet division, Net Creations and CMP Media. Ms. Klein, previously senior VP-sales, came to Everyday Health in 2007 and has led strategic areas of the advertising and communications operations, in addition to leading the launch of DailyGlow.com. Before Everyday Health, she was VP-publisher of Woman's Day, where she initiated the Red Dress Awards and signature marketing programs with health organizations and retailers. She has also been publisher of Time Inc.'s Family Life, VP and advertising director for Woman's Day, and account manager for Elle. Everyday Health also added Tracy Chapman as VP-consumer insights, Orlando Reece as VP-head of broadcast and digital video sales and Andy Jacobson as VP-sales.
Anush Prabhu has rejoined Deutsch, New York, this time as partner-director of insights and communications planning. Mr. Prabhu originally joined Deutsch in 2000, and in 2007 as VP-director of CRM strategy, left the agency for JWT. At JWT, he was group planning head, where he started an analytics group and co-directed communications planning while working on clients including Johnson & Johnson, Royal Caribbean, Microsoft, Cadbury and UnitedHealth Group. In 2010, Mr. Prabhu joined McGarryBowen as managing director-communications planning & analytics, working on clients such as JPMorgan Chase, Verizon, United Airlines, Sears and Marriott.
Scott Hess has joined Spark as senior VP-human intelligence and research, a newly created position at the Starcom MediaVest Group agency. Mr. Hess previously served as VP-insights for TRU, a global leader in youth research and a part of the WPP Group, for nearly a decade. Before joining TRU, he developed his interest in youth and culture at online-music pioneer Tunes.com, where he led the creation of destination sites that included RollingStone.com, TheSource.com and DownBeatJazz.com. After serving as VP-content for most of his tenure, Mr. Hess spent his final year there creating integrated marketing programs for brands such as Ford, Wendy's and M&M Mars.
Crystal Barnes, formerly director of industry relations, has become VP-industry relations at Nielsen. Ms. Barnes began at Nielsen in 2004 as part of the company's Emerging Leaders Program. Upon completion of the program, she worked in public affairs and was instrumental in the expansion of Nielsen's multicultural outreach efforts, strengthening the company's communications and public-affairs program. Prior to joining Nielsen, Ms. Barnes held production and communications positions at WHP, a CBS affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa., and Comcast SportsNet in Bethesda, Md.
