The Direct Marketing Association has named Robert Allen interim president-CEO. Mr. Allen is the former president and CEO of The Vermont Country Store, a multichannel retailer of hard-to-find products. Mr. Allen began his career at the company in 1982 as assistant to the president, and he advanced to president in 1994. He currently serves as a director for six companies in New England: Gardeners Supply, Cuddledown, Susan Sargent Designs, JK Adams, Danforth Pewterers and Kalow Technologies.
Israel Mirsky has joined Porter Novelli as exec VP-emerging media and technology. Prior to joining Porter Novelli, Mr. Mirsky served as director of marketing at predictive optimization firm X Plus One. Before that, he was chief strategy officer for NOM, managing and executing online marketing campaigns involving micro-sharing, social aggregation, social media and digital word-of-mouth for clients including ELF Cosmetics and Motorola.
Saatchi & Saatchi X announced two new hires: Thierry Dumoulin has joined as executive VP-managing director of its New York office, and Janet Rose has joined the Fayetteville, Ark., office as VP-planning director. Mr. Dumoulin most recently held the post of client services director at Imagination, a global, independent communications shop. Ms. Rose had been VP-senior planner at Barkley, USA, and formerly served as senior VP-group director, strategy and planning at McCann Erickson, New York.
Doremus has promoted Jane Lauterback from exec VP-chief marketing officer to exec VP-global chief marketing officer. Ms. Lauterback joined the Omnicom specialist business communications agency in 2003. Her new responsibilities will be in addition to her current account-stewardship role.
Online video advertising company ScanScout has appointed Jason Krebs its exec VP, a new role within the company. Mr. Krebs will tap into his digital leadership experience at companies such as The New York Times and Conde Nast to help shape ScanScout's sales, distribution and marketing vision. Most recently, Mr. Krebs co-founded video ad technology provider ShortTail Media, where he also served as president-sales and marketing.
Brian Doherty was elevated from VP-national sales at the CW to senior VP-national sales. Before joining CW in 2006, Mr. Doherty was VP-sales at the WB network, where he supervised the New York sales team and oversaw the accounts of several agencies, including Mediavest, Mediacom, OMD and Initiative Media.
Digitas has hired Joe Lin as creative senior VP for the agency's Stamford, Conn., office. Mr. Lin comes to Digitas from Publicis Modem Asia, where, as executive creative director, he helped develop integrated brand and interactive strategies for clients such as Hewlett Packard, Cisco, LG Electronics, P&G and Garnier. Prior to joining Publicis Modem Asia, Mr. Lin was VP-creative director at Publicis Dialog, San Francisco.
The AMP Agency, a full-service experiential and digital marketing agency, has tapped Jamie Graham as VP-creative director. Prior to joining AMP, Mr. Graham spent more than a decade with Arnold Worldwide, Boston, where he served as senior VP-creative director and worked with clients such as Fleet Bank, Purina and Ocean Spray. Previous to that post, he was VP-group creative director at Grey Advertising.
