The executive, G. Kelly O'Dea, who has already left FCB, is expected to join Interpublic's Advanced Marketing Services on June 1, where he will assist the group's chairman-CEO, Larry Weber, in building and strengthening brands.
The move comes as no surprise, as personnel changes at FCB were expected after the agency hired Gene Bartley in January -- giving Mr. Bartley virtually the same title as Mr. O'Dea -- and brought back Charlie Taney as vice chairman, FCB Worldwide, in February.
Where Mr. O'Dea focused on global clients and worldwide business development, Mr. Bartley was in charge of FCB's West Coast offices. He is now expected to assume some of Mr. O'Dea's duties in client management, while Mr. Taney will take a more active role in new business.
Mr. O'Dea had been at FCB less than two years after coming over from Bozell Worldwide, where he served as vice chairman. Previously, Mr. O'Dea spent his entire career at WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, holding several positions including president of worldwide client service.
