Gene Bartley, currently chief operating officer of North America, is taking on additional duties as chairman-CEO for the New York office. Mr. Bartley takes over from Jeff Tarakajian, who remains president of the office but gives up the title of chairman and general office management duties.
An FCB spokesman said the change was being made in order to increase the agency's focus on growth. Mr. Tarakajian will now have more time to pursue new business opportunities.
The New York office handles accounts for Qwest Communications, Samsung, Kraft International, J.P. Morgan Chase and health-care companies such as Merck & Co., among others.
