Fisker Names Marketing Exec to Promote High-End Hybrids

Beattie Brings Credentials from Jaguar, Lincoln-Mercury

A veteran automotive marketing executive at Jaguar and Ford's Lincoln-Mercury division will take over the newly created role of chief commercial officer at Fisker Automotive, an eclectic Southern California brand that engineers high-end, hybrid-powered luxury cars.

Richard Beattie will be responsible for the global marketing and sales division as Fisker rolls out its sleek Karma sedan, whose base model sells for $100,000-plus .

Mr. Beattie, 57, was head of sales and marketing at Jaguar Land Rover North America from 2002 to 2007, and named exec VP-marketing and sales for Jaguar North America in 2009. Prior to 2002, he was VP-marketing, sales, and service for Lincoln-Mercury, and held top management posts with Ford of Europe and Mazda Motor Corp.'s North American operations.

Founder Henrik Fisker was involved in marketing at Ford, Aston Martin and BMW before creating the firm in 2007. He teamed up with global branding company Lambesis of San Diego to focus on a message of "sexy sustainability." The agency's clients have included Campari, SKYY Vodka, Hitachi and LVMH's Grand Marneir liqueur.
